Tackle It Tuesday: Survival

Warning: Major complaining ahead

So usually on Tackle It Tuesday, I list the many things I am hoping to accomplish that day.

Not today.

After the last two nights of sleeping on the floor in the living room because of stomach pain, I think today I will just try to survive. Last night was brutal. Right around 9:00, the ickies started coming back and I knew I was in for a long night. I swear it was worse than labor...coming in waves. For some reason, the only thing that works is Children's Maalox, which is what I finally broke down and took around 10:30. Things then started subsiding as long as I didn't stand up. For some reason, the floor feels better than the bed.

So, about 5:00 in the morning, I returned to the bed and slept until 7:45. The kids were already bouncing around in the living room by the time I got up and the neighbor kids just arrived for the day. There is a magic show at the library at 10:30 that will amuse the kids for awhile and I know that there will probably be more television today than I would normally allow. Like I said...survival.

UGH!

I have not thrown up, nor do I have a fever, so I hope I am not passing on anything to these innocents. I just need to get through the day and pray this passes. Teaching tonight will be interesting.

Have I mentioned that I HATE being sick!

Friday update

Two pound weight loss...hurray.

I am feeling very frustrated and achy so I won't bother with much more posting until my questions are answered on Tuesday.

We will be celebrating Steve's 36th birthday on Sunday so I will share some thoughts about this loving husband and father later this weekend when I am feeling more cheerful.

Have a great long weekend.

Ladies, Remember When...

you were pregant? You went for your first ultrasound and they asked you to show up with a full bladder. You obeyed instructions and showed up filled to the brim. You were so miserable that you wanted to cry...
However...
Once the ultrasound got going and you heard the little heartbeat and saw the little dot the resembled a peanut, part of that misery started to fade because you were focussed on that little human indeed of you.
Now...
Imagine the same scenario. But this time, take away the joy of seeing a little baby and sit through the discomfort for no purpose other than measuring the size of your ovaries.
Add...
A quick scolding because you apparently didn't drink ENOUGH water for their liking.
Throw in...
A dash of a stoic technician who is, of course, not allowed to say anything about what she sees. Ask anyway, because you want to know if you canceled your commitments at church for nothing. When pleading the technician to throw you a bone, the only answer you get is "well, it's interesting"
Not much of a bone...
I guess we'll play the waiting game a little longer. Hopefully, more answers will come on Tuesday.

Mountain Follow-Up

An interesting day.

The conference was about what I'd expected. Noah's teacher did say in way nohow would she want to have him repeat kindergarten, which was a relief. She also agreed that he would not have done well in a regular class of 24 kids (he has 8). At one point I was so frustrated, I actually started CRYING right in front of the teacher. I hope it was just hormones. How embarrassing! I had a chance to look at his journal and I am glad that we nipped the "girlfriend" thing in the bud. He had actually drawn a picture of them KISSING in his journal and had written "Kylie is Noah's girl" with all words spelled correctly. A few days later, he had drawn a picture of Kylie in jail. He had told the teacher that she wasn't his girl friend anymore. I think they had a lover's spat.

Doctor appt. brought more questions than answers. I knew my weight was bad but I was not prepared to learn that I am 11lbs heavier than I was it my appt last year. That was a bit of an eye opener. After much discussion of current symptoms, I left having relinquished three vials of blood and an ultrasound being scheduled some time in the near future. Hopefully we will have answer soon. I am hoping for the problem being thyroid...I could at least blame the weight gain on that.

The other interesting piece of info that came out of the dr. app. was that my doctor no longer does OB. Apparently he felt he is getting too old to get up in the middle of the night. I guess it's good that my body doesn't want to have any more kids because I can't imagine trying to find a new OB.

Noah has the day off tomorrow because of conferences. I'm not sure what we will do yet but I think we need to do something fun to get my mind off today.

Have a peaceful night.
