Please Be quiet!

Aaron has always been an EARLY riser. Always, always, always. We have tried every trick in the book...no nap, extra long nap, early bedtime, late bedtime, dark room, light room, lots of pjs, scant pjs, etc. Nothing has ever worked. 6:15 is pretty much always the time our little rooster wakes up. We have been getting increasingly angrier at him when he does it and wakes up everyone else in the house (You would think we would just accept it, but it is hard when you're half asleep). So this morning while Steve was getting ready for work, Aaron was again his little chatty self and I had had it.

"Aaron, come downstairs and sit in the corner until it's time to ACTUALLY get up"

(whine, whimper)

quiet for five minutes

( singing)

"Aaron, be quiet"

quiet for two minutes

(talking)

"Aaron, enough"

quiet for two minutes

(loud singing)

"AARON, BE QUIET NOW!" There's something ironic about screaming at your child to be quiet.

"I can't be quiet because my mouth is moving"

I guess it's time to come up with Plan Z

I wish I had some advice for you. Here I thought it was back my kids were waking up at 7am. Of course I'm scared to see what tomorrow brings since our clocks change tonight.. we move an hr ahead. I don't want them waking up at 6am! YIKES!

Hey sis-

Research shows that kids'circadian rhythms start early in the AM, much like older peoples because they produce less cortisol (a homrone responsible for jump starting the rest of our bodies).Teenagers and early twenties people, on the other hand, wake up late and then sleep late. It all has to do with cortisol production levels...

Just look forward to when they wont roll out of bed until noon and go to bed at 3AM!Only 6 or 7 more years to go...

Oh man I know how you feel. Both boys are up by 5:45 (sometimes earlier) EVERY morning. There is nothing we can do about it. They are old enough now that they will just play in their room most of the time but when they were younger it was a nightmare. We would come out to horrible messes and yeah, they manage to wake their baby sister up even now at times. Drives me crazy.

UGH.. I'm not a morning person 6:15 is still the middle of the night for me..

My Sweet Pea woke up crying that her ear hurt at 6:30am this morning.. thankfully a dose of tylenol was all it took for her to go back to bed and I haven't heard anything more about her ear hurting.. hope it stays that way.. I'm so tired of paying the doctor.

We really need to swap kids or something - mine need to be up at 6:30 and we're dragging them out of bed... Even Abby, who's our 'early' riser, doesn't get up before 7:30 or 8:00 on weekends.

I point that out to Ron all the time - about yelling at them to be quiet. He doesn't usually see the irony though. :)
