Here We Go Again VBS 2008

So begins another year of VBS. Our theme this year is God's Big Backyard. I am actually quite excited by the theme. It is all about Service... to God, family, friends, or neighborhood. I have been meeting with youth for the past two Sundays. I teach the motions to all of the youth and they lead the music for the younger kids. I think it is much more effective for kids to follow other kids. It gives the youth a chance for important leadership and I think they are free to have more fun when they are in charge. Ususally by the last day, I don't even have to stand in back to guide the motions, they are in complete charge.

I thought it might be fun to share some photos from past VBS experiences. Don't worry, I'll only share the fun ones...



2005 was the first year Noah ever particiapted. It was a ranch theme. Noah is in the red shirt in the front right. At three years old, he already showed that he was NOT going to participate with the other kids. This has continued as a piece of his persopnality. Meanwhile, Baby Aaron just hung out playing with the decoration hats.



















2006 was the year Noah was 4 and they were practicing being sheep trusting a shepherd to guide them. Noah is the one blindfolded.











2007 Last year: This was my carload every day to VBS. You'll recognize Hannah and Abby in the middle and Bradley, Noah, and Aaron in the back.











This was my favorite picture from VBS last year. Since it was a water park theme, our church bought a water slide. Completely by accident, I got a picture of both Noah and Aaron coming through at the same time.








So, it promises to be yet another hot, sticky, crazy, exhausting, and fun week in God's Big Backyard...stay tuned as the week progresses.
